ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hi, I'm Rachel, a Canadian author, artist, and the co-founder of Write For Life.
Growing up, I enjoyed the biographies of those who stood up against injustice, their faith in God giving them courage to speak the truth. My love of thought provoking stories that shine a light on darkness hasn't changed. Books like To Kill A Mockingbird and A Tale of Two Cities, and movies like A Hidden Life and Amazing Grace are inspirations for my own writing. These narratives don't shy away from difficult subjects, while showing the impact one person can make.

Silence in the face of evil it itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
In my spare time, I research historical and ethical issues. My findings lead to many questions. How could societies accept slavery or holocausts? What led so many Christians to turn a blind eye or embrace these ideologies? With the eugenics mentality once again on the rise, I want to raise awareness of the value of life in all its stages. This means directly including issues like abortion in my books. No one is less worthy of life because of their ability, age, or location.

Ultimately, our value comes from God. He gives us life, and offers us salvation in a world marred by sin. It's important to me that my books show that we can have this hope, that Jesus offers us a faith that works by love and enables us to do hard things.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. - 1 Peter 2:24
While most of my writing isn’t cozy, it’s always clean. The themes might be intense, but in the shadows you'll find faith, hope, and friendship. I don’t write romance, but there are adorable kids and cute animals in my books! If any of this has resonated with you, you've come to the right place.
